Sports data provider Sportradar has entered into a partnership with the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The aim of this deal is for Sportradar to monitor and safeguard the integrity of Spain’s Segunda B division.
Under the deal, Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System (FDS) will be used to monitor Segunda B until the end of the 2019-2020 season. The FDS is known for using sophisticated algorithms as well as a constantly updated database of odds for the sole purpose of detecting match-fixing. It is also lauded as being the only bet monitoring system to have been independently assessed and verified by recognized sports betting and integrity experts.
Royal Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales stated: “The Spanish FA has implemented an integrity plan that includes several actions related to education, prevention, and the monitoring of betting activity in all competitions and categories of Spanish football. In this sense, signing an agreement with Sportradar becomes of paramount importance for us, as from now on, Segunda B will be continuously monitored by the FDS.”
Founded in 1909, the Federation is a public interest private association that encompasses all Spanish Regional Federations as well as clubs, referees, coaches, athletes, and the National Professional Football League. It is responsible for overseeing all aspects of football, whether amateur or professional, within its territory.
Sportradar management has also expressed positive views with regard to this latest development, with the company’s Managing Director Andreas Krannich saying, “We are delighted to be working with the RFEF, the sole governing body of Spanish Football, to further strengthen the integrity of football in Spain. Our market-leading FDS solution will ensure that there is complete visibility over betting activity for over 1,500 matches, and we are honoured to be playing our part in helping to safeguard Segunda B.”
Established in 2000, Sportradar is now hailed as the leading global provider of sports data intelligence. It finds itself in the unique position of being right smack in the middle of the sports, media, and betting industries.
